Alexander "Alex" Thomas Flores, 22, of New Oxford, a caring son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend, left this world unexpectedly on August 6, 2022.

Born in York on September 24, 1999, he was the son of Antonio and Aida (del Pielago) Flores, New Oxford.

Alex graduated from New Oxford Senior High School in 2019 and attended HACC.  He was employed at Amazon Distribution Center, Carlisle.

In addition to his loving parents, Alex is survived by his brothers Angel Flores and Alan Flores, New Oxford; maternal grandparents Armando and Aida del Pielago, Abbottstown; great grandmother Clementina Torres, York; paternal grandparents, Pablo and Angelita Flores, Jalisco, Mexico; uncle Armando and aunt Rosario del Pielago, York; uncle Jose and aunt Andrea del Pielago, York; uncle Pedro Flores; uncle Jesus Flores; uncle Ascenion Flores; uncle Jaime Flores; uncle Rogelio Flores; aunt Maria Lopez-Flores; aunt Elena Flores; cousins: Paolo del Pielago, Fiorella del Pielago, Gabby del Pielago, Isabella del Pielago, A.J. del Pielago, Luciano del Pielago, Jami del Pielago, Mary Lopez, Betzabe Lopez, Juan Lopez, Guillermo Flores, Pablo Rosas, Jessie Flores, Esteban Mejia and Fernando Mejia and many more aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Jose Torres and aunts, Teresa Rosas and Margarita Flores.

Alex enjoyed life, family members and many friends.  He was always there to brighten the lives of others and his smile could light up a room. While Alex was loved by many, sometimes life was just not fair to him; regardless, he always kept his head up and always found the good in people, even if at times they weren't good to him.  His love of life and optimism will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Holy Spirit Hospital and the staff of the Gift of Life for their care and compassion.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 6 to 9 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Rd., Hanover with Rev. Fr. Michael W. Rothan, celebrant.  Entombment will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.  Serving as pallbearers will be Antonio Flores, Angel Flores, Alan Flores, Armando del Piélago Jr., Jose de Piélago, Paolo del Piélago, Fernando Mejia and Juan Lopez.
