Alice V. (Legore) Marshall, 104, of Lake City, Florida, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2024, surrounded by love and care at the Haven Hospice Center in Lake City. She was the beloved wife of the late Thomas B. Marshall, with whom she shared many wonderful years before his passing in 1981.
Born on June 11, 1920, in Silver Run, Maryland, Alice was the daughter of the late Lester H. and Pauline (Newcomer) Legore. Her life was a testament to her strong work ethic, enduring love for family, and unwavering spirit. Together with her husband, Alice operated several restaurants, including the cherished Marshall's Diner, which she managed for 16 years. That diner, now known as Dutch Country in Hanover, stands as a tribute to her dedication and lasting legacy within the community.
Alice's life was defined by her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She found immense joy in the presence of her family, cherishing every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Her nurturing spirit and warm heart left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
She is survived by her son, Larry T. Marshall and his wife Frances of Grand Island, FL, her daughter, Bonnie Marshall and her companion Buddy Davenport of Lake City, FL, as well as her brother, Eugene Legore. Alice's legacy lives on through her eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 23 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will remember her fondly for her boundless love and guidance.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Alice was preceded in death by seven siblings and two infant great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Alice's remarkable life will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA, with Rev. Cindy Orewiler officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of reflection and visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
