Archie L. Warner, 88, of Manchester, MD, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 28, 2019 at his home. He was the loving husband of Mary E. (Wentz) Warner. Together they would have shared 70 years of marriage on March 19, 2019.
Born February 16, 1930 in Manchester, MD, he was the son of the late Cletus L. and Hilda P. (Roser) Warner.
Archie owned and operated the family farm, in Manchester, MD for many years and was a huckster in the Baltimore area of beef, pork and poultry products. He was also a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau. He later was employed as a machinist at Black and Decker, Hampstead, MD, R.H. Shephard Co., Hanover, PA and Telemecanique Inc., Westminster, MD. Archie was an active member of the Hope Baptist Church, Hanover, PA. He sang in the "Missionary Bible Quartet" and also played the guitar and sang with his wife Mary in church. Most of all, Archie was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather and loved spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife Mary, Mr. Warner is survived by three children; Esther L. Wolford and her husband Dana of East Berlin, PA, David L. Warner and his wife Sandra of Selby, S.D. and Philip L. Warner and his wife Carole of Spring Grove, PA; sixteen grandchildren and forty five great-grandchildren come May. Archie was preceded in death by his daughter Dorcas I. Warner and his sister Effie P. Baum.
A service to celebrate the life of Archie Warner will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Hope Baptist Church, 6450 Hope Way, Hanover, PA with Pastor Allen C. Harris officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be from 4 to 7pm Monday at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover and again on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service at the church. Burial will be in St. David's Cemetery, Hanover, PA. Pallbearers will be David Warner, Jr., Seth Warner, Jared Warner, Uriah Warner, Josiah Warner and Levi Warner.
