Obituary

Arlene J. (Hull) Smith, 89 of Hanover passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Paramount Senior Living in Fayetteville.  She was the beloved wife of the late Francis W. Smith who passed away on July 1, 1995.

Born June 12, 1931 in New Oxford, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Edna (Wolf) Hull

Arlene retired from BAE in June of 1995 after serving for 19 years as a plastisol operator, and was a life member of the VFW.  She greatly enjoyed mowing grass and cooking.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Diana M. Brown and her husband, George of Abbottstown; 2 grandchildren, George Brown III and his wife, Michelle and Bryan Brown and his fiancé, Jamie; 2 great-grandchildren, Kortney Dodge and her husband, Andrew and Katlynn Brown and her fiancé, Andy; 3 great-great-grandchildren, Callie Dodge, Chloe Dodge and Caleb Dodge, as well as her brother, Kermit Hull and his wife, Jane of Abbottstown.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly S. Smith and 8 siblings, Fern, Herman, Fred, Ralph, Dot, Betty, Grace and Joyce.

A funeral service to celebrate Arlene's life will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 6 th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Rev. Msgr. James M Lyons officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Hanover.  A time to gather and share memories will also be on Thursday from 10am until the start of the service at the funeral home.

Attendees to the service will be required to wear facemasks and follow social distancing protocols.
