Betty E. (Hoover) Bottomley, 99 of Shrewsbury and formerly of Baltimore and Hanover, passed peacefully on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at SpiriTrust Lutheran the Village at Shrewsbury.  She was the wife, for 55 years, of John W. "Bill" Bottomley who passed away July 9, 1995.

Born Dec. 12, 1919 in Phillipsburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Miles and Ophelia (Cole) Hoover.

Betty was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Shrewsbury. She was a volunteer at the Shrewsbury Lutheran Home serving senior dinners.  She was also a member of the Happy Seniors.

Betty is survived by her son, John W.  Bottomley, III and his wife Marlene of Port Deposit, MD and three grandchildren, Brian Bottomley, Tricia Holtzapple and Nicole Bottomley. Also survived by her brother Ralph Hoover of Havre de Grace, MD.

Betty was preceded in death by her son Rodney B. Bottomley, daughter, Barbara Benedict, five sisters and two brothers.

A service to celebrate the life of Betty Bottomley will be held at 12noon on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA 17331 with Pastor Kevin Orewiler officiating.  A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be from 11am until the time of the service.

Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover, PA.
