Betty Coney Memorial Video

Elizabeth "Betty" Coney, 91, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at Hanover Hall. She was the loving wife of the late Robert M. Coney; together they shared 44 years of marriage before his passing in 1996.

Born March 30, 1930 in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Jean C. (Miller) Rae.

Betty was a loving wife and mother; she cherished her family and loved spending time with them. Betty graduated from Sparrows Point High School in 1947 and then went on to marry her husband and raise her family. When she wasn't taking care of her family, she was working in the Baltimore County Schools as a teacher's assistant. In her free time, Mrs. Coney enjoyed baking and was an accomplished artist; she was also a member of many churches and church affiliated programs, some of which include Sparrows Point United Methodist Church, Lodge Forrest United Methodist Church, Hanover Area Council of Churches, Rainbow for Girls, the Alumni Association of Sparrows Point High School and most recently she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where she founded the Women of Grace.

Mrs. Coney is survived by a son, Bruce C. Coney and his wife Linda of Glenville; a sister, Jean Rae Sloas of Winter Springs, FL, and many loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Miller Radecki and two brothers, William Hugh Rae and Alfred James Rae.

A service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Dr., Hanover, PA with Rev. Todd Christine officiating. A time to share memories with the family on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore, MD.
