Betty L. (Pressley) Hummel, 82, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at home. She was the loving wife of the late Wellington A. "Dick" Hummel; together they shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2018.
Born October 28, 1939, in Black Mountain, NC, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Ruth (Davis) Pressley.
Betty was a member of Berkley Baptist and Fairfield Fellowship Churches, she loved social gatherings with friends and family. Betty was very creative in crafts and cooking, she loved children and enjoyed teaching them in Sunday school and she took in foster children in her earlier days.
Mrs. Hummel is survived by four children, Lorrie Little and her husband James of Gettysburg, Patricia A. Dutterer and her husband Alan L. of Hanover, Daniel J. Hummel and his wife Tamela of Berkley Springs, WV, Paul L. Hummel of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren, David Little, Jimmy Little, Nick Little, Brandon Hummel, Danielle Dutterer, Patrick Dutterer, Scott Hummel, Jesse Hummel, Bethany Hummel, Matthew Hummel, Karen Hummel, Ashley Hummel; ten great grandchildren and many loving extended family members and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by a son, David Hummel; siblings, David Pressley, Shirley Pressley and a daughter-in-law Karen Hummel.
There will be no public viewing. Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Betty will be held at 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. A time to share memories with the family will be on Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
