Betty J. (Rockwell) Stockslager, 83, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was the loving wife of Robert S. Stockslager, with whom she shared many years of marriage and devotion.
Born February 11, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, Betty was the daughter of the late John E. and Patricia F. (Truelove) Rockwell.
Raised in Baltimore, Betty pursued higher education at Essex Community College and Garrett College, where she earned her associate degree. Throughout her career, she was employed by Waste Products, formerly Robb Tyler, and later American Space Planners, where she worked until her retirement.
Betty was a faithful member of Hanover Church of the Brethren and the Silver Run Union Mills Lions Club. Deeply involved in her church, she enjoyed serving others and was known for her kind and helpful spirit. She sang in the church choir and treasured the friendships she made through her congregation. A true people person, Betty never met a stranger and always found joy in helping those around her. In her spare time, she enjoyed expressing her creativity through art.
In addition to her husband, Robert, Betty is survived by her step daughter, Teresa A. Stockslager of Baltimore, Maryland; her son, Gregory M. Stockslager of New Freedom, Pennsylvania; her grandchildren, Sarah K. Stockslager, Shayne R. Stockslager, and Rachel T. Stockslager; and many other loving relatives and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her son, John H. Stockslager; her brother, Edward Rockwell; and her half-brother, Ramon H. Myers.
Family and friends are invited to share memories and pay their respects during a viewing on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover.
Following cremation, a memorial service celebrating Betty's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Hanover Church of the Brethren, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, with Rev. Mark Bowyer officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hanover Church of the Brethren Memorial Fund, 601 Wilson Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
