Obituary

Bonnie L. (Funkhouser) Eichelberger, a devoted wife, loving mother and the cherished heart of her family, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026 surrounded by family and the exceptional staff of Brandywine Fenwick Island Assisted Living. She was 80.

Born November 1, 1945 in Hanover, PA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Edith (Shanebrook) Funkhouser. She was the beloved wife of the late Claude A. (Ike) Eichelberger, Jr, who she was blessed to have 31 years of marriage with before his passing in 2004. Together they created a foundation of love for their four children with family and faith always at the forefront of everything they did.

Mrs. Eichelberger is fondly remembered as a stay-at-home mother during the younger years for her children. Her family was her greatest joy, which she nurtured with patience and endless care. Once her children were older, she began working outside of the home, spending years at Brook Shoes and later at Hanover Pen. She was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hanover where she worshipped and built lifelong connections before moving to Delaware with her daughter.

Bonnie is survived by four children: Steve Zinneman and wife Bonnie of Hanover, Scott Zinneman and wife Linda of Thomasville, Joey Camacho and husband Louie of Milton, DE and Dana Eichelberger-Morela and husband Fred of York. She was a devoted grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, and we take comfort knowing she is joyfully reunited with them in eternal peace.

A funeral service to celebrate Bonnie’s life will be held at 2pm on Monday, June 15th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. in Hanover. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Monday at the funeral home from 1pm until the start of the service.

Her legacy of love, faith, and family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to bring comfort and joy for generations.
