Bowie Russell
Thomassy
Aug 17, 2022 — Aug 26, 2022
Bowie Russell Thomassy, received his angel wings surrounded by his loving parents, grandparents and aunt on August 26, 2022 at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Born August 17, 2022 at 11:42 a.m. and was 6 lbs. 5 oz. and 18 inches long, he was a son of Eric Patrick and BriAnna Paige (Myers) Thomassy of New Oxford.
Our sweet baby Bowie gained his angel wings. Our hearts are in pieces. In our little boy's short nine days of life, he had two catheter procedures and an open-heart surgery. He was born strong. It gives our family some comfort knowing that he isn't in pain or suffering and that he can now rest and be at peace. He was perfect in every way. We were able to have him baptized last weekend and be surrounded by his aunts, uncles, and grandparents. We spent time before he passed making memories including doing handprints, footprints, and giving Bowie his first haircut. His mom was able to hold him and let him pass comfortably in her arms surrounded by love. We will forever cherish his little body wrapped in our arms.
We also have elected for Bowie's heart and lungs to be donated to their research database. The doctors told us that Bowie's heart is nothing like they've seen before and really didn't understand it. His heart was truly unique. That made it difficult for them to help Bowie. Bowie will now have another purpose on this Earth. He will be able to teach doctors around the world and help other families. We are hoping that Bowie can teach them something so that he might help save another little boy or girl and spare this pain from another family.
Bowie Russell will forever be in our hearts. We will love him forever and he will always be Ollie's little brother, Eric will always be his Daddy, and BriAnna will always be his Mommy. We have a perfect guardian angel.
If love itself could save you, you would have lived forever. We love you so much sweet baby Bowie Russell.
In addition to his parents, Bowie is survived by his big brother, Oliver William Thomassy; maternal grandparents, David and Christine Myers of Abbottstown; paternal grandparents, William and Kathy Thomassy of New Oxford; his God Parents and aunt and uncle, Jocelyn West and her husband Brian; uncles, Zechariah Myers, Elijah Myers and his wife LeAnn Schneider-Myers, William Thomassy and two cousins Charlotte West and Ophelia Myers. Bowie also will watch over from Heaven many loving great aunts, great uncles and extended family members.
A service to celebrate the life of Bowie will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St., Hanover, PA with the Rev. Dr. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman officiating. The family asks that the public arrives at the church at 10:45 a.m. and be seated in the sanctuary for an 11 am service. Burial will be private.
