Obituary

Burnell K. Caldwell, Sr., 89 of East Berlin passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.  He was the beloved husband of 35 years to the late Goldie E. (Grim) Caldwell.

Born May 1, 1931 in Hanover, he was a son of the late John R.E. and Grace (Ensor) Caldwell.

Burnell proudly served in the U.S. Army with the 382 nd as an M.P. and a cook during the Korean War.  He retired from JLG in Thomasville in 1993 and in his free time, he was an avid hunter.

Mr. Caldwell is survived by 5 children: Bonnie K. Vogel and her husband, Thomas of Hanover, Barry K. Caldwell and his wife, Rebecca of York, Barbara K. Caldwell and her companion, John R. Hall of Spring Grove, Buffy K. Kunkel of East Berlin and Bradley K. Caldwell of East Berlin; 10 grandchildren: Steven K. Vogel, Jeffrey P. Vogel, Joseph R. Vogel, Alexis N. Caldwell, Nikki L. Crouse, Thomas B. Kunkel, Brian T. Kunkel, Austin S. Caldwell, McKenna N. Caldwell and Kamryn K. Caldwell; 4 great-grandchildren: Gavin Kunkel, Crixus Kunkel, Carter Eckert and Ja'niyah Caldwell; 1 brother, Jack Caldwell and 1 daughter-in-law, Marian Caldwell of Florida (wife of the late Burnell K. Caldwell, Jr.)

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Burnell K. Caldwell, Jr. and 3 sisters: Ruth Miller, Mildred Stambaugh and Betty Kessler.

Services will be private.
