Catherine M. "Kitty" (Kretz) Parrish, 92 of Hanover passed away peacefully at Wellspan York Hospital on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Phillip Bunty, then of her second husband, the late Larry Parrish.
Born May 1st, 1933 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Howard and Blanche (Smith) Kretz.
Mrs. Parrish is fondly remembered as a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She was an avid and skilled BINGO player and in her younger years, a great bowler. She also loved cats, and greatly enjoyed finding bargains at local dollar stores. Early in life, she worked for Lana Lobell's Clothing in Hanover, where she collected matching outfits for her five young daughters, especially for Memorial Day Parades, where the girls stood proudly adorned as their father, Phillip marched in the parades with his National Guard unit. Later in life, she greatly enjoyed her profession as a taxi-cab driver for Flickinger Taxi Company in Hanover.
Catherine is survived by two daughters: Carol A. Nelson (wife of the late Tom) of Hanover and Kathy E. Redding of Hanover; seven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her first husband, second husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by three daughters: Phyllis "Pet" Malaun, Jane McMaster and Susan Murray, as well as seven siblings: Bobby, Betty, Sonny, Dorothy, Buddy, Carol Ann and Mary Louise.
A funeral service to celebrate Catherine's life will be held at 11am on Monday, July 28th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Rev. Michael P. Reid II officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be at the funeral home on the evening of Sunday, July 27th from 6-8pm (prayer service at 7pm), and again on Monday morning from 10am until the start of the service. Following services, Catherine will be laid to rest in private by her family St. Joseph Cemetery on a separate day.
