Charlotte A. (Yingling) McCleaf, 89, of Hanover passed peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Hanover Hall. She was the loving wife of Alvin W. "Bill" McCleaf to whom she was married to for 62 years at the time of his passing on April 10, 2021.
Born March 10, 1933 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Amelia F. (Mahaley) Yingling.
Mrs. McCleaf graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Dental School in 1953 and received her BS in Education from Millersville University in 1981. She was a dental hygienist for several dentists and school districts in the area. She and her husband traveled extensively, visiting most of the U.S. states and national parks and traveled abroad to China, Japan, Ireland and Australia; they loved spending Winter Weekends in State College, PA and attending Penn State football games. She was very proud of her children and was a devoted grandmother.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue Ann McCleaf, Hanover; sons, Andrew McCleaf and wife Sabrina, Hanahan, SC and John McCleaf, Hanover and granddaughters, Dylan and Skylar McCleaf.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, William Yingling, Phyllis Schenck, Major James Yingling, USMC retired and Wendell Yingling.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11 AM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 West Chestnut Street, Hanover with Rev. Faye C. Snyder officiating. Family and friends will be received from 10 AM until the start of the service at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
