Obituary

Chris "Pappy" Cromer, 62, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. He was the loving husband of Missy J. Cromer; together they shared almost 20 years together; deciding to finally tie the knot 2 years ago.

Born on October 3, 1961, in Hanover, Chris was a son of the late Gabriel L. and Loreen V. (Albright) Cromer.

Chris was a dedicated motor builder for race cars, including street stocks and sprint cars. He had a passion for spending time at the race shop and track, always eager to assist in any way he could. His love for racing was more than a hobby, it was spending time with his second family and it was a way of life that brought him joy and fulfillment. He was well-known and respected in the racing community for his willingness to help others.

Family was at the center of Chris's life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Chris loved family gatherings, where his laughter and stories would fill the room. Before his illness, he enjoyed riding his Harley, often taking long rides to enjoy the open road and the sense of freedom it brought him. He also enjoyed working on various projects around the house and could often be found tinkering in his garage.

Chris was a member of the Hanover Home Association and the McSherrystown Home Association, where he formed many lasting friendships.

In addition to his wife, Chris is survived by his children: Natasha Coons of Indiana, Stephanie Seiferd and her husband Bradd of Hanover, Nikki Mobley and her husband Adam of New Oxford, and Josh Kitzmiller and his wife Mariya of New Oxford. He is also survived by his brothers: Bill Cromer and his wife Sherri of California, and Pat Garrett and his significant other Jody Riser of New Oxford. His beloved grandchildren include Mackenzie Seiferd, JJ Loss, Braddyn Seiferd, Cassidy Balmer, Keeley Loss, Dakota Kitzmiller, Owen Coons, and Hailey Mobley. Chris leaves behind many loving extended family members and friends, who will miss his kind heart and generous spirit.

Following Chris's wishes, there will be no public viewing. After cremation, the family will hold a private memorial service at their convenience.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 Madison St, Hanover, PA 17331.
