Daniel M. Brown, Sr., 74 of New Oxford, formerly of Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 1 st , 2022 at Gettysburg Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 52 years to Rosemary (Malamphy) Brown, whom he married on March 7, 1970.
Born August 10, 1948 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Norman M. and Iris L. (Horsman) Brown.
Mr. Brown is fondly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He loved his job, and spent his career as a Scale Technician with American Scale Company in Maryland. He proudly served our country during the Vietnam War as a member of the 101 st Airborne "Screaming Eagles". He loved to travel, loved football and baseball and was a huge fan of the Baltimore teams, including the original Baltimore Colts, the Ravens and the Orioles.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by two sons: Daniel M. Brown, Jr. of New Oxford, PA and Joseph E. Brown of Pasadena, MD; three grandchildren: Nicholas A. Brown, Ashley L. Brown and Amber C. Brown; two sisters: Barbara Sherrill (wife of the late Dale) of Mills River, NC and Dixie Skarupsky (wife of the late Michael) of Colora, MD, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be from 10am – 12pm on Tuesday, November 8 th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover, PA with military honors rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Following the viewing, there will be a procession to Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; 26 N. 3 rd St.; McSherrystown, PA 17344 where a Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Daniel's life will begin at 12:30pm with Rev. Richard Lyons officiating. Committal will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.
