Obituary

Daniel William Mowrer, 75, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at UPMC West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg. He was the loving husband of Gayle M. (Thoman) Mowrer; together they shared 37 wonderful years of marriage filled with laughter, love, and companionship.

Born August 19, 1950, in Hanover, Daniel was a son of the late Harry T., Jr., and Julia L. (Fuhrman) Mowrer.

Born and raised in Hanover, Daniel attended South Western High School. After graduation, he began a long and dedicated career at SKF Industries, retiring after decades of employment as a machinist. He was a proud member of the McSherrystown Moose.

Daniel was a man who knew how to enjoy life. He was an avid race fan, especially sprint car racing on dirt tracks and NASCAR, and he took particular pride in cheering on his grandson Dylan in his sprint car. He was also a devoted football fan of the Baltimore Ravens and Penn State. Daniel and his wife enjoyed many trips to the beach, though Daniel was perfectly content taking in the view from the dock rather than the sand. He dearly loved his little dog Mia and his late dog Scooter.

Above all else, Daniel was a loving and funny man who truly loved to laugh. He treasured time spent with his family and friends, and any gathering was brighter, louder, and happier when Daniel was there sharing stories, jokes, and smiles.

In addition to his wife, Gayle, Daniel is survived by his children: Amy Eash and husband Cris; Danielle Mowrer; Bryan Mowrer and wife Taryn; and Danean Tracey and husband Jeff Baumgardner. He is also survived by his siblings: twin brother Dennis Mowrer and wife Linda; brother Randy Mowrer; and brother Andy Mowrer and wife Cindy.

He leaves behind grandchildren David Eash and Haley Conaway, Dylan Norris, Jed Henry, Bryleigh, and Andrew Mowrer, Sean Snyder, and Stephanie Snyder; great-grandchildren Wyatt and Addison Snyder; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Tracey.

There will be no public viewing or service. Following cremation, the family invites friends to gather and share memories from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA. Burial will be private.
