Obituary

Daniel J. "Songbird" Wonder, Sr., 81 of Littlestown passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 6, 2024.  He was the beloved husband of Ann (Robinson) Wonder.

Born November 17, 1942 in Hanover, he was a son of the late George and Bertha (Toomey) Wonder.

Mr. Wonder is fondly remembered for his love of his family and his dedication to his lifelong profession as a truck driver.  His home was adorned with his countless awards and accolades for his impeccable safety record and professional honors, including an award for one million safe miles traveled as a professional driver.  Over a career spanning more than 60 years, Daniel, known by his CB handle "Songbird" was an owner / operator, and also retired twice, first from Hanover Concrete and then again from Feeser Trucking.  However, Trucking was only one of his skillsets.  He also worked as a crane operator and a welder for Eisenhart Crane Service.  In service to his community, he participated in the Make-A-Wish Truck Convoy and served for many years as a volunteer with Parkville Fire Company where his professional skill and licensing were crucial to the operation of emergency vehicles.  In his free time, he enjoyed ice cream and spending time with family fishing, camping, taking long-distance motorcycle road trips, plane and helicopter rides, and Car Cruises in Ocean City, MD.  Additionally, he was a huge fan of dirt track racing and enjoyed many great times at Trailways Speedway.

In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by seven children: David Wagner of Littlestown, Barry Wonder of York, Wendy Brady and her husband John "Buff" of McSherrystown, Roger Wonder and his wife Lisa of New Oxford, Richard "Whiskey" Wonder of Spring Grove, Daniel "Mad Dog" Wonder, Jr and his wife Wanda of Hanover and Robin Dillow and her husband Richard of Chambersburg; nine grandchildren: Chris and wife Crystal, Amy, Cody, DJ, Chance, Nikki, Brandy, Evan and Zac and wife Lindesy; nine great-grandchildren: Alexus, Carson, Josiah, Aniecia, Mason, Camden, Easton, Julianna and Karalee, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
