Darlene M. (Leese) Bell, 79 of Abbottstown went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2021.  She was the loving wife of 50 years to the late Carl W. Bell, who passed away October 24, 2013.

Born November 20, 1941 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Paul E. and Margie M. (Laughman) Leese.

Mrs. Bell was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Abbottstown and a graduate of Eichelberger High School.  She was a private child care giver in her home for 30 years, and all the children loved to call her "Nanny Bell".  She also worked at the Child Development Center in Abbottstown for 15 years working with disabled children.  In her free time, she enjoyed Bowling at South Hanover Bowling League and going to yard sales.  She was also a BINGO volunteer at Hanover Hall.

Darlene is survived by 2 grandchildren, Jessie and Stephanie, 1 son, 6 great-grandchildren and 5 siblings.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 7 siblings.

A memorial service to celebrate Darlene's life will be held at 10am on Friday, July 9 ^th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Rev. Fred Mummert officiating.  Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30am until the start of the service.
