It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Darrell Lee Schaffner of New Oxford, PA, on January 9, 2024, at the age of 62. Born on February 25, 1961, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late Daris Lee Schaffner and Shirley Ann (Higgs) Sprucebank, Darrell lived a life marked by dedication to his family and a passion for the outdoors.
Darrell made his career as a skilled machinist in the manufacturing industry, where he was known for his meticulous work and strong work ethic. He had a strong devotion to his family and his faith, attending to the online services at Lewes Presbyterian Church.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Darrell found peace and joy in nature. His happiest moments were those spent outdoors, whether it was a quiet morning in the woods or casting a line into the water. But above all, Darrell cherished the time spent with his beloved children and grandchildren. He was a source of strength, love, and laughter for his family, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Darrell leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He is survived by his son, Jeremy Schaffner and his wife Cortney of Fairfield; his daughter, Joani Harlan and her husband Ben of Lemoyne; his grandchildren, Dean and Strider Schaffner, Fiona and Alexander Harlan; and his siblings, Debbie Anglin (Charles) of Milton, DE, Dennis Schaffner (Theresa Marselle) of Linthicum, MD, Dianne Carlson (Eric) of Severn, MD, Dana Schaffner (Margaret) of Pasadena, MD, and David Schaffner (Tammy) of Ocean Pines, MD. He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Donna Schoene.
