David E. Hyde, 64, of Hanover, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, December 18, 2022, at his home. He was the loving husband of Rita J. (Ritz) Hyde; together they shared 33 years of marriage.

Born April 24, 1958, in Hanover, he was the son of William E. Hyde of Hanover and the late Betty S. (Gladfelter) Hyde.

David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend; he cherished his family and loved spending time with them, especially his two grandsons. David graduated from South Western High School in 1977 and then went on to work at BAE and Harley Davidson retiring in 2016. Mr. Hyde was very active in the community and was a member of numerous clubs, some of which included East Berlin Fish and Game, McSherrystown Moose, McSherrystown Home Association, the Republican Club, VFW, and Hanover Home Association David raced flat track motorcycles competitively in his younger years. In his free time David enjoyed going to the beach, playing his guitar, and doing yard work. Most of all David loved spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughter, Christine Harlacher and her husband Shane of Spring Grove; two grandson, Blake and Graham Harlacher, both of Spring Grove; a sister-in-law Patty Stone and her husband Oliver of Hanover and many loving extended family members and friends. In addition to his wife and family, David also leaves behind his adorable cat "Bunny".

There will be no public viewing or funeral service. Following cremation, burial will be private at Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
