David W. Sheely, 59, of New Oxford, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.  He was the loving husband of Paula Ann (Smith) Sheely; together they shared 14 years of marriage.

Born September 12, 1963 in Hanover, he was the son of the late Nelson Raymond and Janet Marie (Sheely) Hammond.

David was a 1981 graduate of New Oxford High School and was a mechanic with Frock Brothers Trucking, New Oxford.  He was a member of St. John's UCC, New Chester, a former member of Irishtown Fire Department and enjoyed attending sprint car races.  David was a fan of NASCAR, especially Mark Martin, and was an avid Baltimore Orioles fan.

In addition to his wife, David is survived by his brothers and sisters, Brad Sheely and companion Kelly, East Berlin, Patricia Sheely, Littlestown, Gregory Hammond and wife Pam, Hanover, Pam Emig and husband Tony, Hanover and Denise Midwig and husband Gary, Thomasville and his cats, Cowboy and DC.

In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Sheely.

A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover.
