Dennis Edward Fuhrman, 53, of Abbottstown, PA, ran into the loving arms of Jesus unexpectedly on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Hanover Hospital. Born in Hanover, he was the son of Francis E and the late Ella Sue Fuhrman. He was a devoted husband to Kimberly (Duck) Fuhrman for over 32 years.

Dennis was a 1986 graduate of South Western High School. He served as a Specialist in the Army from 1986-1989, including one year in Korea. He was a Life Member of the Richard J. Gross Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8896 in East Berlin. He worked tirelessly for the citizens of Pennsylvania as an IT Supervisor for 21 years for the Commonwealth of PA, Office of Administration.

Dennis loved God, his family and his country. He enjoyed spending time with family, but was also kind and generous with his time to anyone he met.  He served as an elder of Cross Keys Community Church. He was a former youth leader there, as well as leading the Young Adult and the Men's Ministries. He faithfully served as a drummer on the worship team. He recently began serving on the Building Committee.

He especially enjoyed mentoring youth and coached the New Oxford Scramblers Youth Football and Youth Lacrosse teams when his sons played. He was an assistant coach for the New Oxford High School Boys Lacrosse team. His true love was watching his own sons grow through the sports programs. He understood the impact he could make, not in wins or losses, but in just being there for the boys. He also suffered through his daughter's dance recitals, but was obviously proud and enjoyed watching her talent grow, and her dance studio trip to Hawaii in 2014 made it all worth it.

He had very little spare time, but what he did was spent with his family. He enjoyed traveling to new places, loved the beach, and wanted to get into boating. He enjoyed time helping with a local NASCAR team, teaching his boys to hunt and fish and fix cars. He was a handyman around the house and enjoyed starting new projects. He was an avid NASCAR, Penn State football and Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his wife, Dennis is survived by three children who are his pride and joy. Daughter, Amanda Jefferis, and her husband, Harrison, sons PFC Joshua Fuhrman and Joseph Fuhrman; his father and stepmother, Ruth Fuhrman; brother Scot Fuhrman and wife, Kathy; brother Jeffrey Fuhrman, and stepsister Sherri Ritgers and husband Todd. He was the fun uncle to numerous nieces and nephews and loved them all dearly in addition to his own aunts, uncles and extended family.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, March 17th, from 6-8 p.m. at Cross Keys Fellowship Church, 785 Berlin Road, New Oxford, PA. A celebration of life service will be held Friday. March 18th at 10:00 a.m. at the church, with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. His pastor and friend, Dr. David Karn will be officiating. Burial will follow immediately after the service at St. Bartholomew Church Cemetery with military honors provided by the Richard J. Gross Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8896 and bugler Mitchell Mummert, SFC, Ret. from the Adams County Allied Veterans Council.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations in Dennis' memory to any of the following organizations: Cross Keys Community Park; Cross Keys Fellowship Church building fund; Roots for Boots; or your local animal shelter.
