Donald I.
Lippy
Jan 19, 1946 — Dec 27, 2024
Donald I. Lippy, 78, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 27, 2024, at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. He was the devoted companion of Myrtle Ripple, with whom he shared 40 beautiful years.
Born on January 19, 1946, in Hanover, Don was the cherished son of the late Irvin and Oneida Lippy.
Don was a family man through and through, finding immense joy in the company of his loved ones. He worked diligently throughout his life in various factory positions, providing for his family with dedication and pride. In his free time, Don loved the simple pleasures of life: cheering for his favorite teams, the Yankees and Steelers, and immersing himself in the world of wrestling. He also had a fondness for old Western movies, particularly tales of cowboys and Indians, which transported him to another time and place.
Don will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose legacy lives on in the hearts of those he held dear.
He is survived by his loving companion, Myrtle, and his children: Audrea E. Lippy of Hanover, Mary Beth Lippy of Hanover, Timothy L. Lippy of Gettysburg, and David I. Lippy of Hanover and Amanda Gorman. His memory will also be cherished by his grandchildren: Matt Knotts, Jennifer Franco, Stephanie Snyder, and Elijah Aguilera; and his great-grandchild, Aiden M. Lippy. Additionally, Don leaves behind many beloved extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his grandson, Todd Lippy.
A service to honor and celebrate Don's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, with Pastor Jason M. Myers officiating. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will follow at Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Don's name may be made to the American Liver Foundation, P.O. Box 299, West Orange, NJ 07052.
