Doris M. Fogelsanger, age 87, a lifelong resident of Hanover, passed from this life into an eternal life with Jesus on April 15, 2023. She was the loving wife of Jay E. Fogelsanger; together they shared over 66 years of marriage.
Doris was born in Hanover, PA on May 25, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Chester and Lizzie (Walker) Reinecker. She graduated from Hanover's Eichelberger High School with the class of 1953. Doris was a homemaker and stayed home to raise her children. She also lovingly served lunches to students in Washington Elementary School for 33 years. In addition, she was a part-time secretary at the Hanover Area YMCA and the Brethren Home Community. Doris was a member, past deacon, and long-time Sunday school teacher at the Hanover Church of the Brethren and attended First Baptist Church in Hanover. She enjoyed serving, reading, church events, volunteering with many Hanover service organizations like Meals on Wheels and Hanover hospital, quilting with the Pleasant Hill ladies, and mostly spending time with her family. Her faith and service to the Lord Jesus was steadfast. Doris believed John 3:16.
Doris was a loving wife to husband Jay; mother to daughter Bonnie Schoffstall and husband Steve, and son Dale Fogelsanger and wife Denise; grandmother to Ben Warfield, Blaine Warfield and wife Nikki, Andrea Potter and husband Chris, Ashley Fogelsanger and fiancé Tyler McFeaters, and Amber Fogelsanger; and to step-grandchildren Heather Green and husband Chad, Jessica Long and husband Ed; step-great-grandchildren Jenna, Camron and Tristan.
A visitation/viewing time will be held at 9:00 a.m. prior to a 10:00 a.m. memorial service in celebration of Doris's life on Saturday, April 22 at the Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive, Hanover, PA 17331 with Rev. Gary Buchman and Rev. Dan Thomas officiating. She will be laid to rest following the service at York Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Doris's memory may be made to Bible Helps, PO Box 391, Hanover, PA 17331.
