Obituary

Doris LaRue (Rebert) Steich, age 94, passed away peacefully on February 21 at Cross Keys Village of The Brethren Home Community with family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Paul E. Steich for 75 wonderful years.

Doris was born in Hanover on September 28, 1927. She was the daughter of George E. and Mary (Baumgardner) Rebert.

She attended Eichelberger High School. She was an expert seamstress and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling, playing piano and games and doing puzzles. Most of all her passion was spending time with her family.

She attended Otterbein United Brethren Church, Calvary Bible Church, and most recently Hanover First Church of God.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Linda (Steich) Danner and husband Terry, Jack Steich and wife Peggy (Watson), and Jill (Steich) Hempfing and husband Jim, and Daughter-in-Law Sharon (Lippy) Steich. She was pre-deceased in death by two sons, Charles E. Steich and Russell A. Steich. She also has eight grandchildren: Allen Steich and wife Jennifer, Evonne (Steich) Booth, Brandon Danner and wife Wendy, Tasha (Danner) Byrd and husband Jerle, Jacob Paul Steich with Jennifer Plavcan, and Brianna Steich with Blake Lyles, Jordan Hempfing and wife Joy, and Lauren (Hempfing) Osladil and husband Jonathan. She enjoyed 11 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She came from a large family with seven surviving siblings: Sisters: Betty Slagle, Pat Duncan, and Marion Rider. Brothers: Ralph Rebert, Gary Rebert, Rick Rebert, and Carroll Rebert. With many nieces and nephews. Her deceased siblings are: Sister, Geraldine Walker and Brothers: George Rebert, Jr., Harold Rebert, Cletus Rebert, and Donald Rebert.

Her family will receive family and friends on Saturday, February 26 at 10am at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive in Hanover with the service beginning at 11am led by Pastor Dan Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be given in her memory to Hanover First Church of God or The Good Samaritan Fund of The Brethren Home Community.
