Doris L.
Willard
May 30, 1937 — Aug 2, 2024
Doris L. (Dinterman) Willard, 87 of Brushtown passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 2nd, 2024. She was the beloved of 60 years to Barry F. Willard, whom she married on November 15, 1963.
Born May 30, 1937 in Littlestown, she was a daughter of the late Caroline F. (Dehoff) Stottlemeyer.
Mrs. Willard was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hanover where she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and volunteered in the nursery. Faith and family were most important to her, as well as serving her community. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels as well as the PAL Lunch Program with the Hanover Area Council of Churches. Her care for others always shone through her dedicated career as a registered nurse for 34 years, retiring in 1997. In her free time, she was an avid gardener, and also loved spending time at the beach in Ocean City, MD, going out to eat, and cheering for her two favorite sports teams, the Baltimore Orioles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, but most of all she cherished spending time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Barry, Doris is survived by three children: Steven B. Willard and his wife Edith of Littlestown, Keith R. Willard and his wife Tammy of Hanover and Christina J. Simpson and her husband Joseph of Spring Grove; four siblings: Larry Dinterman and his wife Doris of Thurmont, MD, Dorothy Fritz (the late Ralph) of Hanover, Robert Dinterman and his wife Barbara of Emmittsburg, MD and Shirley Motter and her husband Jimmy of Westminster, MD; sister-in-law Linda Albright (the late Victor) of Kingston, NY, as well as 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Dinterman.
A memorial service to celebrate Doris' life will be held at 11am on Friday, August 16th at First Baptist Church; 217 Fulton St.; Hanover, PA 17331 with Pastor Gary Buchman officiating. Refreshments and continued fellowship will follow in the church social hall.
