Dorothy M. (Mellott) McAdams, aged 89, of Hanover, passed into God's eternal care on Monday, January 15, 2024, at her home, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on June 30, 1934, in Hanover, Dorothy was the cherished daughter of Howard A. and Helen R. (Geiman) Mellott. Her life was a testament to her strong values and the love she had for her family and community.

Dorothy was a devout member of Wellspring Wesleyan Church. Her career was marked by dedicated service at Hanover House, which later became Hanover Direct. Among her many passions, Dorothy found joy in crocheting, particularly afghans, and had a deep appreciation for nature that was evident in her love for walking and birdwatching. Dorothy's journey through life took her from Pennsylvania to Ohio then to Missouri for a short time before settling in Hanover, PA.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories cherished by her family: daughters Cheryl Nichols (Bill) of York, Dorotea Knight of Hanover; sons Clark McAdams of Lincoln IL, Parke McAdams (Tracy) of Bonifay, FL; siblings Janet Dice and Robert Mellott; 15 grandchildren and a host of adoring great-grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Dorothy reunites in heaven with her parents, her son Steve McAdams, granddaughter Amy McAdams, son-in-law Thomas Knight, daughter-in-law Penny McAdams, and great-grandson Noah McAdams.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. Rev. Jerry Beers and Rev. Kevin D. Orewiler will officiate. Friends and family can gather for a viewing and to share memories from 12 pm until the service time. Additionally, a livestream of the service will be available starting at 2 pm on Saturday at www.wetzelfuneralhome.com. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Union Grove Cemetery, Gambier, OH, on Monday, January 22, 2024, at 2 pm.
