He continued to enjoy long driving trips all the way up to the year of his death, primarily to visit family in Colorado and California.
Ed took up poker later in life and became an impressively skilled player who ranked in the top 1,000 tournament money winners of all time in New Jersey.
He spent much of his personal time reading news, fiction and history and delighted in demonstrating a deep knowledge of all three in conversation.
Ed is survived by three children Jonathan, Dan and Lauren, and four grandchildren, sisters Sue and Helen, and brother Bill.
