Obituary

Edward "Big Ed" S. Knochel, 78, of Hanover, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Pappus House, York.  He was the loving husband of Martha E. (Behr) Knochel, Hanover; together they shared 54 years of marriage.

Born May 27, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late Edward Stanley and Evelyn Virginia (Stewart) Knochel.

Ed served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was employed with NSA, Ft. Meade, MD for 12 years, retiring in 1997.  He attended Grace United Methodist Church and Apostolic Ministries Church, both in Hanover and was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 50 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sisters-in-law, Helen Lagasse, Chambersburg and Bertha Brown, Bushnell, FL and brother-n-law, Casper Behr and wife Carolyn, St. Michael's, MD.

The family will receive friends and share memories on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 549 Carlisle St., Hanover.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at 11 AM at Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Dr., Hanover with Rev. Todd A. Christine and Pastor Wayne Hammonds officiating.  Interment with military honors conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.  Following the interment, the family invites everyone back to Grace United Methodist church for a luncheon and sharing of memories.
