Elizabeth J. "Bette" (Stout) Steckel entered into God's eternal care on November 29, 2018 at her home in Hanover.

She was the loving wife of the late James B. Steckel, Sr, with whom she shared over 58 years of marriage.

Born July 12, 1942 in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Chesten Stout and Alberta Virginia (Root) Stout.

In addition to her loving husband, Jim, Bette is survived by her children: Angela D. Steckel and Pamela J. Miller of Hanover and James B. Steckel, Jr and his wife,  Angela of Spring Grove; her two sisters, Terry Depetris of Melbourne, FL and Bonnie Nazerenis of West Haven, CT; her grandchildren: Joseph Miller, Ashley Steckel, Alex Steckel, Christopher Steckel, Jerod Miller, Dominic Steckel, Christian Magno, Taylor Magno, Amier Steckel, Cordai Steckel and Dakota Varner; and her great grandchildren, Haylee Miller, Mason Steckel, and Lola Steckel.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia J. Steckel and her brother, Gilbert C. Stout.

A funeral service to celebrate Bette's life will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11am at the Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc.; 549 Carlisle St.; Hanover, PA, with Pastor Jason Hollenbeck officiating.  A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6-8pm, then again on Thursday morning from 10am until the time of the service.  Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
