Emory W. Trish, 83, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at York Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Rose A. (Gladfelter) Trish; together they shared 61 years of marriage before her passing on Saturday, March 18, 2023.
Born Wednesday, July 3, 1940, in Hanover, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Anna A. (Crowl) Trish.
Emory's life was marked by both duty and delight. He honorably served his country as a proud member of the US Marine Corps from 1957 to 1961, demonstrating his commitment to service and sacrifice. Following his military service, Emory embarked on a fulfilling career at Penn-Mar Casting, where he dedicated himself for 41 years as a maintenance mechanic until his retirement.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Emory embraced life with an infectious zest, finding joy in the simplest of pleasures. An ardent angler, he found solace and excitement in the serenity of fishing, often seeking time on the waters whenever he could. His passion for the outdoors was matched by his enthusiasm for sports, particularly NASCAR, baseball, and football, which he followed with unwavering dedication. Additionally, Emory delighted in puzzles, relishing the challenge they presented.
However, amidst his varied interests, Emory's greatest source of happiness lay in the company of his beloved family. He cherished every moment spent with them, finding profound joy in the laughter and love shared during gatherings. Emory especially treasured visits from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Trish is survived by a son William Trish and wife, Barb, of Hanover; daughter Jennifer Bange and husband Kevin, of Spring Grove; grandchildren Jessica Trish, Becky Trish, William Trish, Jr., Kaylee Flemmens, Jacob Laughman, and Austin Bange; step grandchildren; Jed Reaver, Ryan Reaver; great grandchildren Isabella Fitzgerald, Dalton Anderson, BrixLee Laughman, Lyla Flemmens and Daxton Laughman, with two more on the way; siblings, Robert Trish, of Gettysburg, Evelyn Robertson of Hanover, Florence Stewart and her husband Jack of Hanover, Nevin Trish and his wife Beverly of Hanover and Steven Trish and his wife Donna of Hanover. Emory is also survived by many loving extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, Emory was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, Donald, Harold, and Walter Trish.
A service to celebrate the life of Emory W. Trish will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover. Pallbearers will be, Seth Hoover, Shane Anderson, William Trish, Jr., Ryan Reaver, Austin Bange, Zach Flemmens, and Jacob Laughman. Honorary pallbearers will be, Jessica Trish, Rebecca Trish, Camille Trish, Ashley Pettis, Kaylee Flemmens, and Alizabeth Laughman.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Roots for Boots, PO Box 213 New Oxford, PA 17350.
