Francis "Goose"
Xavier Goslin
Aug 27, 1934 — Dec 14, 2022
Francis "Goose" Xavier Goslin , 88, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 at Genesis Healthcare, Gettysburg. He was the loving husband of Judith A. (Benadum) Goslin; together they shared 34 years of marriage.
Born August 27, 1934, in Boston, Massachusetts, Frank was a son of the late George and Mary (Tuohy) Goslin.
After graduating from North Quincy High School, Frank was awarded a B.S. in Chemistry from Boston College. He then served three years in the U.S. Navy, honorably discharged as Lt. J.G. in 1960. His last posting was aboard aircraft carrier U.S.S. Independence.
For more than four decades, Frank worked as a sales representative in the chemical industry. His extensive knowledge and focus on the paper manufacturing process brought him to Central Pennsylvania where he became a familiar face at the facilities of one of his main accounts, the P.H. Glatfelter Company.
In 1988, Frank married Judith Benadum Gerlach, becoming an instant parent and grandparent to a growing family. He excelled in his new role as grandfather and was in steady attendance at football games, wrestling matches, school plays and musicals, and countless other events involving the grandkids.
Frank enjoyed golf and tennis, and was an unwavering Boston Red Sox fan. He also loved Broadway musicals and show tunes and could be counted on to launch into a song from his wide repertoire at a moment's notice for any occasion. He was a connoisseur of puns and wordplay, but even the worst of his bad jokes could be counted on to bring a smile to anyone's face. His love of people and his well-practiced conversation skills served him well throughout his life and he was never happier than when he could gather with family, friends, customers, and colleagues for any lively gathering.
Always generous of word, spirit, and deed, Frank was an enthusiastic volunteer at Hanover Hospital for many years after retirement. He also served various roles for the First United Methodist Church in Hanover, including participating in several mission trips.
In addition to his wife, Frank is survived by his beloved sister, Helen Reardon of Foxborough, MA, sons Douglas Gerlach and partner Jennifer, Kevin Gerlach and wife Yvonne, and Brian Gerlach and wife Lauren of Hanover, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and George.
There will be no public viewing. Following cremation, a memorial service to celebrate the life of Frank will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Frederick St., Hanover, with Rev. Dr. B. Michael Brossman officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Tuesday from 6-8 pm at the Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, and then again on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of service at the church. Private burial will be later in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
