Frederick Kenneth "Fred" Gross, 76 of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 28, 2021 at the Hospice and Community Care in Mt. Joy. He was the loving husband of Kathy A. (Hoover) Gross; together they would have celebrated their 39 th year of marriage on July 2 nd .
Born January 15, 1945 in Baltimore, MD, he was the son of the late L. Kenneth and Goldie A. (Almony) Gross.
Fred attended North Harford High School and after graduation he served his county proudly in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his military service he started driving truck for Hanover Brands and also HM Kelly; during his career his CB radio handle was Freeloader. In his free time Fred loved to go camping, watch baseball (especially the Baltimore Orioles), spend time with his dog, but most of all he loved and cherished time spent with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, Fred is survived by five children, Rodney Kenneth Gross and his wife Stephanie of Hummelstown, Michelle Jones of Rockhill, SC, Julie Boyde of York Springs, Jessica Hartman and her husband Adam of Hanover, April Gross of Hanover; six grandchildren, Elaine Gross of Mechanicsburg, Elizabeth Gross of Hummelstown, Gavin Turner, Grayson Hartman, Cody, Kaley and many other loving extended family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his sister, Marlene Kegley.
A service to celebrate the life of Frederick Kenneth Gross will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2021 at Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Dr., Hanover, PA with Rev. Todd Christine officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover. Pallbearers will be; Adam Hartman, Scott Hartman, Gavin Turner, Bill Stevenson, Marcus Stevenson, Jamie Hoover, Casey McMillan and Derek Byers.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Greater Pennsylvania and West Virginia, Inc., 707 Grant Street, 37th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219-1938 or to Special Olympics of Pennsylvania York County, P.O. Box 333 Dover, PA 17315.
