Frederick Dale
Wentz
Mar 7, 1946 — Jun 13, 2026
Frederick Dale Wentz, 80, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 13, 2026.
Born on March 7, 1946, in Porters Sideling, he was the son of the late Cleatus O. Wentz, Sr. and Nadine M. (Garrett) Wentz.
Raised in Porters Sideling, Frederick was a loving and generous man who was always among the first to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He worked for many years as a machine operator at P.H. Glatfelter before retiring. Above all else, he cherished his family and enjoyed spending time with those he loved.
Frederick had a great sense of humor and loved sharing laughs with family and friends. In his free time, he enjoyed going to yard sales, trying his luck with scratch-off lottery tickets, watching game shows, following NASCAR, especially cheering for his favorite driver, Richard Petty, and watching professional wrestling.
Frederick is survived by his daughter, Heidi Burbank and her husband, Jack, of Hanover; his daughter, Krista Wentz and her companion, Bill Brown, of New Oxford; his son, Jason Wentz and his wife, Rachel, of Hanover; and his son, Matthew Wentz, of Hanover. He was also the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren and is further survived by many loving relatives and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Frederick was preceded in death by five siblings: Shirley Markle, Nancy Pascoe, Patricia Emerick, Cleatus O. Wentz, Jr., and Samuel Wentz.
A public viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA. A graveside service celebrating Frederick's life will be held privately by his family. Burial will take place in Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Toys for Tots Foundation, Attn: Gift Processing Administrator, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172-1776, or to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 191 Waukegan Road, Suite 105, Northfield, IL 60093.
