Georgene S. (Swanson) Hull, 100, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Homewood at Plum Creek. She was the loving wife of the late Charles M. "Charlie" Hull, with whom she shared 45 years of marriage.
Born February 22, 1926, in Fairmont, Minnesota, she was the daughter of the late Floyd C. and Alice M. (Olien) Swanson.
Georgene began her working life in communications with the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad. Over the years, she also held various positions in the food industry and later served the Hanover Public School District as a custodian, retiring in 1991 after 21 years of dedicated service. Following her retirement, she continued to give back to the community through part-time work with the Visiting Nurse Association for 15 years.
A proud member of the Greatest Generation, Georgene served as a USO hostess during World War II. She was a longtime member of the 4-H Club and a life member of the YWCA. Georgene was deeply involved in the Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Past Matron and held life membership with York Chapter #69. She was also a member of AARP and AARP Chapter #2812.
Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church on Chestnut Street.
Georgene is survived by her son, Paul C. Hull and his wife, Donna, of Glenside; her grandsons, Edward L. Hull and Joshua L. Hull; her granddaughters, Cathy Kicinski and Jessica Hull Meyers; 18 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Floyd L. Hull; her daughter, Carol "Hullie" A. Hull; and her brother, Earl T. Swanson.
A service to celebrate Georgene's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, PA, with Rev. Dr. Kathy Vitalis Hoffman officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.
