Obituary

Gerald A. "Jerry" Brenchley, 76, of Hanover, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 11, 2023 at UPMC Hanover Hospital. He was the loving husband of Barbara A. (Dougherty) Brenchley; together they shared 37 years of marriage.

Born September 18, 1947 in Compton, CA, he was the son of the late George Russell Brenchley and Lois Virginia (Riley) Cooper .

Jerry, a cherished member of the Hanover community since his relocation from California in 1984, dedicated many fruitful years to Georgia Pacific before embarking on an entrepreneurial journey with his own company. His retirement in 2016 marked the culmination of a successful and rewarding career. Jerry's life was enriched by his passion for gardening and golfing, and he was renowned for his infectious laughter, his talent for storytelling and joke-telling, and his playful spirit that often led to harmless shenanigans and non destructive hooliganism. His vibrant personality and zest for life left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Jerry is survived by his son; Brent Leskin of Dingmans Ferry, PA; three grandchildren, Emma, Bryn, and Brennan Leskin; two sisters, Judy Washebek and husband Rick of Yorba Linda, CA, Jackie Brenchley and her friend, Diane Tate of Wilmette, IL; a niece Rene and many other loving extended family member and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Cooper.

There will be no public viewing. Following cremation a memorial service to celebrate the life of Jerry will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. E. Robert Burkhart officiating. A time to share memories with the family will be on Saturday from 10 am until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
