Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) A. Kline, 74, of Hanover passed away unexpectedly on June 8, 2026 at his home.

The son of Alice (Deatrick) Kline and Frederick Kline, Jerry was a 1971 graduate of South Western High School and served in the U.S. Army stationed in Germany for two years.

He was employed at New Way Packaging Machinery for many years as a welder and retired from Lincoln Intermediate Unit in New Oxford in charge of maintenance, building, and grounds.

He is survived by Alan Kline and wife Crystal of Hanover, and Chad Kline and wife Janaia of Arendtsville; grandchildren Sierra Kline, Kyle Kline, Wyatt Kline, and Ashlyn Kline. He is also survived by his girlfriend Sharon Altland.

Jerry was a member of the Hanover First Church of God, where he served on the security team, was Vice-President of the Jefferson Rifle Club, and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, playing golf, riding his motorcycle, woodworking, going on cruises, listening to Oldies music, and eating seafood.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at the Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive, Hanover.

Memorial contributions can be made to Mason Dixon Youth for Christ, 889 Baltimore St., Hanover, or to any Veteran’s charity.
