Gladys J. (Weaver) Spangler, 91 of Hanover passed away peacefully at Hanover Hall on Saturday, May 21 st , 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late John W. Spangler who passed on August 17, 2014.
Born June 22, 1930 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Earl R. D. and Clara E. (Golden) Weaver.
Mrs. Spangler loved to play BINGO in her younger years, and she cherished her beloved cockatiel, Buttercup and her dog, Lilly.
Gladys is survived by 6 children: Jane Hull (wife of the late Preston) of Spring Grove, Rodney Spangler and his wife, Karen of Hanover, John Spangler, Jr. and his wife, Cindy of Hanover, Diane Kuhn and her husband, Dave of New Oxford, Bill Spangler and his wife, Donna of McSherrystown and Angela Smith and her fiancé, Robert Saveleski of New Oxford; 1 sister, Beaty Garvick of Hanover, as well as many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Joe Spangler; 5 siblings, Mary, Janet, Loretta, Sam and Bob, her dog, Lilly and her cockatiel, Buttercup.
A funeral service to celebrate the life of Gladys Spangler will be held on Friday, May 27 th at 11am at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church; 1398 Moulstown Rd. in Hanover with Rev. David DeLong officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Thursday, May 26 th from 5-7pm at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover, and again on Friday morning at the church from 10am until the start of the service.
