Gordon A. Fisher, 89, entered God’s eternal care on August 1, 2026, at Hanover Hall, Hanover. He was the loving husband of Katherine “Kay” (Hemmeter) Fisher with whom he shared 67 wonderful years of marriage.

Born on March 14, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Gilbert C. Fisher and Ruth L. (Krummel) Fisher.

Gordon was a 1955 graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational/Technical High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Upon completing 2 years at Baltimore Junior College, he and his sweetheart Kay were married on his 22nd birthday, March 14, 1959, in Baltimore. Soon after his wedding, he was drafted and served 6 years in the Army Reserves.

Gordon worked for several printing firms in the Baltimore area. In 1969, he accepted the position of production manager at Everybody’s Press and moved his family to Hanover. In 1973, Gordon and his wife Kay opened their printing business, Mercury Press, which remained opened until their retirement in 2014.

Gordon was a former member and president of the Hanover Kiwanis Club. He was on the Board of the Hanover Chamber of Commerce and the Hanover YMCA. He was on the advisory boards for the printing department at New Oxford High School and 70001 Career Association of Hanover. He was Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 110 in Hanover and was an officer in the Patmos Masonic Lodge #348 and a three-time past Commander of Bethel Commandry #98.

Gordon was an active member of First Church of Hanover, formerly First United Methodist Church, and served on various committees. He sang with the church choir for many years, as well as the Hanover Community Singers. He volunteered at the Council of Churches, PAL Lunch, and Ruth Harvest Programs.

Gordon enjoyed reading, singing and various card and board games, but his favorite pastime was talking. He surely liked to talk and as they say, “he never met a stranger”. Gordon loved his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family members, and many wonderful friends. Gordon will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to his wife Kay, Gordon is survived by sons, Mark (Joyce), Jeffrey (Mary Lou), and his late son Joel (Gina); grandchildren Stephen, Timothy (Chelsea), Christopher (Bailey), Brent (Liv), and Brianna (Tyler); great-grandchildren Wrynlee, Madeline, and Quinten; siblings Delores Gowl (Larry), Joan Walstrum (Jim), Ruth Duerbeck (Jeff), Deborah Singer (Greg) and the late Deanna Barnes (Dennis).

A Masonic Funeral Service and visitation will be held on Friday, September 4th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Wetzel Funeral Home in Hanover.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 5th at noon, with a visitation before the service from 10:00 am to noon at First Church of Hanover. Interment will be later at the convenience of the family.
