Obituary

Harold William Bair, Sr., 85, of Hanover, entered into God's grace Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at the UPMC Hanover Hospital.

Born February 9, 1939, in Hanover, Harold was the son of the late Richard Sr. and Mildred (Luckenbaugh) Bair.  He was the loving husband to Deborah Jean (Hyser) Bair with whom he shared 46 years of marriage until her death November 6, 2018.

Harold was a veteran and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. During his service, he was stationed in Germany.

Harold worked as a welder in the metal fabrication industry. He was a loyal employee of Emeco in Hanover for 33 years, and then later retired from Hanover Iron Works.

In his free time, Harold loved playing the guitar and the harmonica and watching NASCAR. Harold was a big race enthusiast, and even built a dragster with his brother Dick, and together they won several races and awards. Most of all, Harold put his wife and family first and loved spending his time with them.

Harold is survived by his children, Jennifer Lynn Myers, Harold William Bair, Jr.  and wife Katie, both of Hanover, Amanda Beth McKinney and husband Hollis, Jr., of Thomasville, and Bradley Aaron Bair, of Hanover, and five grandchildren. Harold also leaves behind his siblings, Richard Bair, Jr., Robert Bair, and Mike Bair, Sr., of Hanover. Harold was preceded in death by five of his siblings, Shirley Masimore, Johnny Bair, Mildred Bair, Jr., Thomas Bair, and Joseph Bair.

A graveside service to honor and remember Harold's life will be held at 11:30 AM, Friday, October 18, 2024, at Rest Haven Cemetery, Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA, 17331, with Reverend Scott Brown officiating.  Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard will present military honors. Pall bearers will be Richard Bair, Jr., Robert Bair, Harold Bair, Jr., Bradley Bair, Mike Bair, Jr., Joseph Hyser, and honorary pall bearer Mike Bair, Sr.  A gathering with food and refreshments will be held following the burial at Hanover Community Church, 1959 Smith Station Road, Hanover, PA 17331.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Harold's name to the American Cancer Society.
