Obituary

Harold Henry Dubs, 92, of Hanover went to be with his Savior while at his home on Monday, September 2, 2024.

Born December 3, 1931, Harold was the son of the late Guy Dubs and Margie (Jones) Dubs. He graduated from Codorus Township High School in Glenville in 1948.

In his early years, Harold enjoyed farming, while also driving a milk route for Bupp's Dairy. In 1960 he and his wife, Naomi, bought Aunt Kitty's Soup in partnership with friends, Herb and June Lippy. While running that business Harold also took up flying as a hobby. He enjoyed it so much that he went on to earn his instructor's license, teaching many Hanovarians to fly. After selling the soup business, Harold worked at the Mount Joy Buick dealership as a salesman and then Gene Latta Ford until his retirement in 1993.

For many years Harold was an active member of Christian Business Men's Committee, Child Evangelism Fellowship and International Partnership Ministries, serving on the boards of these organizations. He was a member of Calvary Bible Church for over 55 years. Many remember "Uncle Harold" as the song leader for Vacation Bible School both at Calvary and at Missionary Bible Church, a church he and Naomi helped to start in the 1950s. The desire of Harold's heart was for others to trust in Jesus as their Savior.

Harold was compassionate, generous, kind and trustworthy. He was a man of integrity who loved his family and was loved by them in return.

Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife Naomi Hilda (Warner) Dubs, his brother, Mervin L. Dubs, sister-in-law Betty (Fair) Dubs, and brother-in-law, Barry Baney.

He is survived by his children, Janet Weir (Robert Weir, Jr.), Esther Miller (M. David Miller) and Robert Dubs; his grandchildren, Sarah Hinch (Nate), Michelle Griffith (David), Sharon Canavan (John), Ben Miller, Nathan Weir (Danielle), Matthew Weir (Laura) and Rachel Roush (Michael) and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Glenn Dubs, Doris (Dubs) Baker (Fred Baker), and Gloria (Dubs) Baney.

A viewing will be held at Calvary Bible Church: 603 Wilson Ave. in Hanover on Monday, September 9, 2024 from 8:30 until 10:45 a.m. where a funeral service to honor Harold's life will begin at 11am. Following the service, the interment will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover.

Donations may be made in Harold's honor to International Partnership Ministries; 100 Spring St.; Hanover, PA 17331 or Child Evangelism Fellowship of York County; 58 Mt. Zion Rd.; York, PA 17402.
