Heather L. Bowles-Strausbaugh, 54, of Hanover, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 11, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Robert M. Strausbaugh.

Heather was born on December 22, 1969, in Baltimore, MD, the cherished daughter of Rita (Miller) Bowles of Ft. Myers, FL, and the late James W. Bowles, Sr.

An accomplished academic, Heather earned her master's degree from Virginia Tech and built a distinguished career as an avian bird specialist. Her passion for the natural world was evident in her love for hiking, bicycle riding, and many other outdoor activities. Heather's devotion extended to her canine companions, whom she adored deeply.

Heather is survived by her loving husband, Robert, her two stepchildren, Heather Michaels and Lindsay Strausbaugh, her sister Jennifer Brannon, and her brother Charles J. Bowles. She also leaves behind many beloved extended family members and friends.

A time to share memories and honor Heather's life will be held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, from 12-2 pm at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA. Following cremation, her burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
