Obituary

Helene Nancy (Myers) Brown DeLancey, 90, of York, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Brunswick at Longstown. She was the loving wife of the late John J. Brown and the late James Allen DeLancey, II.

Born March 13, 1929 in McSherrystown, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Leo and Mary Virginia (Forry) Myers.

Helene grew up on a farm in Gettysburg and graduated from Gettysburg High School and then went on to obtain a nursing degree in 1950 from Temple University; throughout her life, Helene worked as a nurse at Suburban Hospital Bethesda, MD, and also worked at Hanover Hospital. Mrs. DeLancey enjoyed antiquing, collecting marbles, tea leaf apothecary. Both of her husbands and all of her children served in the military and she was very proud of them all.

Helene is survived by three sons, Michael T. Brown of Hanover, Timothy J. Brown of Carlisle, Kelly A. Brown of Basehor, KS six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and many loving extended family members.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Helene was preceded in death by three siblings, Roger Myers, Bernal Myers and Isabella Resh.

There will be no public viewing; following cremation a graveside service will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Please contact the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA phone number: 717-632-1242, for service information.
