Herbert E. Miller, age 85, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at North York Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. His wife of 55 years, Geraldine Miller, predeceased him in 2015.

Herbert was born on April 3, 1939, in Thomasville. Ever the entrepreneur, Herbert owned and operated Miller's LP Gas in Dover, Miller's Furniture in Dover, and Miller's Auction at the Adams County Fairgrounds.

A reputable auctioneer, Miller enjoyed antique cars and had a lifelong love of music, especially bluegrass. He was hardworking, loved being in nature, had a passion for gardening, and was especially fond of growing lilies.

Herbert is survived by his son, Ray Miller of West York; his daughters, Diane Wolf of Hanover, Darlene Bowers of York and Lori Miller of St. Michaels, Md.; eight grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren

A service to celebrate the life of Herbert will be held on Monday, July 1, 2024, at 11 am at the Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover with Chaplin John-Michael Cotignola officiating. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Monday from 10 am until the time of the service at the funeral home. The burial will be in Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church Cemetery, Hanover.
