Herbert "Herb" J. Veit, 92 of Hanover, Pennsylvanis, passed away February 19, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving wife Janet and family.  He was born January 21 ^st , 1931, in Oak Park, Illinois, the son of the late Joseph and Anna Maria Veit.

Herb graduated Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin as well as serving in the U.S. Army.  He moved to New Jersey where he met his wife, Janet I. Veit.  They celebrated 59 happy years of marriage in November.  He worked for Philadelphia Gear Corporation until his retirement in 1996.  He was an avid reader his entire life frequently visiting the library.  He was a Boy Scout leader, Troop 101, in Wayne, New Jersey, for 18 years.  Herb had a strong faith in the Lutheran church for most of his life.  He and his wife were very involved in spending time with grandchildren.  The couple enjoyed camping, dancing, and international travel.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet, his son Steven J. Veit and his fiancé Valarie Bryant of Odenton, Maryland.  His daughter, Carolyn J. Thayer and her husband Barry L. Thayer of Hanover, Pennsylvania; three cherished grandchildren, David Malkin, Brian Malkin, and Brianna Thayer; one great-granddaughter Adalyn Malkin.

Arrangements by Wetzel Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, the family invites en memoriam gifts to be directed to Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive.
