Obituary

John Louis Shultz II, "Jack", passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 2, 1952 in Hanover, he was the son of the late John Louis Shultz "Louie" and Rosella (Resh) Shultz. He was a graduate of Hanover High School and Shippensburg University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he proudly joined his father Louie operating the Shultz Insurance Agency, later becoming president and serving the community for many years.

Jack joined the Lions Club in 1974 and actively served for 50 years. During his tenure, he participated in the Lion's medical transport, was a board member and especially enjoyed chairing the yearly chicken barbeque.

He was a member of the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, having served as an usher, youth leader and a member of the church finance committee. Jack was involved in the Hanover Public School District as a special guest reader in the elementary schools.

Jack was an avid fan of the Orioles and Ravens and lifelong lover of music, especially the Rolling Stones.

Jack was the loving husband of Marilyn (Muntzer) Shultz with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage this August.

He was the beloved father of Jennifer (Shultz) Chaffier and Jessica Shultz, father-in-law of Tim Chaffier and Tim Wynarczuk and grandfather of Lucianna, Dylan and Jackson Chaffier. Surviving in addition to his wife, children and grandchildren are his nieces, Kris Rudisill, Lauren Troop, Marcey Zeroll and Stacey Baumgardner and nephews James O'Toole and Ed Baumgardner, his sister-in-law Marsha O'Toole and brothers-in-law Bill O'Toole and Ed Baumgardner and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his much loved sisters, Sue Bowser and Sally Baumgardner and brother-in-law Gene Bowser.

A funeral service to celebrate Jack's life will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, May 18th at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut St. Hanover, PA. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery following the service. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will be on Friday May 17th from 6-8pm at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA and again at St. Matthew Lutheran Church on Saturday morning from 9:30-10:15, after which the family will have a private time of prayer with the pastor while guests are being seated.
