Jacqueline "Jackie"
Mae Hershey
May 31, 1930 — Jan 25, 2024
Jacqueline "Jackie" Mae Hershey, 93, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was the loving companion of the late Paul P. "Pothole" Hess; they shared 44 years together before his passing in 2020.
Born Saturday, May 31, 1930, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Edward and Blanche (Sterner) Hoffman.
Forever a Nighthawk, Jackie was a proud member of the Eichelberger High School Class of 1948. Her favorite subjects of conversation were the Pittsburgh Steelers, all things tennis, and her great-grandchildren Henry Burns and Evelyn Burns. She worked for many years at the Rusty Naill craft shop. She and Paul enjoyed going to local yard sales. They were both avid animal lovers and adored their many pets over the years.
Jackie is survived by her daughter Joni Reichart and her husband Mike of New Oxford; grandchildren Jessica Burns, Edward Hershey, Jr., Angela Rohrbaugh, and Richard Rohrbaugh; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and companion, Jackie was preceded in death by her son Edward Earl Hershey in 2012.
There will be no public viewing. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Jackie will be held privately at the convenience of the family at Marburg Memorial Gardens, Hanover, PA, with the Rev. Bonnie Whittier officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to York County SPCA, 3159 N Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406 or to the VNA of Hanover and Spring Grove, 440 Madison St., Hanover, PA 17331.
