Jacqueline M. Wentz, 83 of New Oxford passed away peacefully at the Cross Keys Brethren Home.
Born June 13, 1938 in Newberry Township, she was a daughter of the late Clyde B. and Emma C. (Shettel) Spahr.
Jacqueline retired after 13 years with the Penn Township Sewer Department. She was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hanover, and also served her community as a volunteer for the Hanover Council of Churches PAL Lunch Program, as well as Meals on Wheels. She is fondly remembered for her exceptional embroidery skills and she enjoyed cooking and baking. Among her most popular and famous recipes were her vegetable soup, apple dumplings and whoopie pies. Jacqueline cherished spending time with her family, especially holiday get-togethers, including an annual pig roast at her family farm in Etters. She set an outstanding example for her family as a strong, hard working, patient woman who always sacrificed for others.
Jacqueline is survived by 6 children: Barbara A. Shorb of Hanover, Russell L. Wentz, Jr. and his wife, Tanya of Hanover, Ronnie A. Wentz and his wife, Debra of Spring Grove, Randy L. Wentz and his wife, Kim of Hanover, Kim M. Miller and her husband, Tony of Spring Grove and Kristy L. Loper and her husband, Cecil of New Oxford; 2 sisters: Shirley Sheaffer of Etters and Dorothy Keech of Etters, 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and other family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister & brother-in-law, Arlene & Stan "Red" Jacoby and her brother & sister-in-law William & Carole Spahr, as well as her former husband, Russell L. Wentz, Sr.
A funeral service to celebrate Jacqueline's life will be held at 11am on Monday, January 24th at Wetzel Funeral Home & Crematory; 549 Carlisle St. in Hanover with Pastor Todd Christine officiating. Interment will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens in Hanover. A time to share memories and an opportunity to view will also be on Monday at the funeral home from 10am until the start of the service.
The family requires that all in attendance wear a facemask.
