James H. Smiley, 86, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. He was the loving husband of Barbara Smiley of Hanover.

Born June 22, 1934 in Mt. Crawford, VA, he was a son of the late James M. and Cleo E. (Maubary) Smiley.

James was a loving husband and father; he enjoyed fishing, feeding the birds and squirrels around his house and was a member of the American Legion.

In addition to his wife, James is survived by several children including Amy Smith and her husband Robert of Pell City, AL; two sisters, Pat Miller, Reba Sanders; a brother, Ray Smiley; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of James will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will be private.
