Janet I. Veit, 88, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023. She was born November 25th, 1934, in her family home in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. The daughter of the late Severine and Olivia Salvesen.

Janet graduated from Cliffside Park high school in Cliffside Park, New Jersey. She worked in Rockefeller Center New York City for Uniroyal. She married Herbert Veit in St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Weehawken, New Jersey, a happy union of 59 years until the passing of her husband in February. She was a stay-at-home mother after she left her career. Janet was a life member in the Sons of Norway Nordic Lodge. She and her husband were the editors of the Lodge newsletter "Nordic Nytt". Janet was also a member of the Scandinavian ski club, getting on skis as soon as she could walk. She was involved in both cub scouts and brownies. She enjoyed travel, bird watching and enjoyed good food with family and friends.

Surviving are a son Steven J. Veit and his fiance Valarie Bryant of Odenton, Maryland. Her daughter, Carolyn J. Thayer and her husband Barry L. Thayer of Hanover, Pennsylvania; three cherished grandchildren, David Malkin, Brian Malkin, and Brianna Thayer; one adored great-granddaughter Adalyn Malkin.
